Advisory term Decusatio – through its Impact Investment team – have partnered with Blossom Care Solutions to tackle period poverty across South Africa.

The Decusatio Impact Investment team, led by Emma Montocchio, are focused on helping businesses to tackle some of the biggest challenges currently holding South Africa back. This includes access to clean water, renewable energy solutions and healthcare challenges.

Blossom Care Solutions is an innovative social entrepreneurship model with 7 sites around South Africa focused on manufacturing of sanitary products. This innovative model sees 6 or 7 young ladies per site be given the opportunity to work in a manufacturing environment where they are able to learn key business skills and deliver social impact to their surrounding communities.

These sites are typically backed by Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) funds or Socio-Economic Development (SED) spend.

This can further assist organisations in terms of their Sustainability / Sustainable Development Goals and ESG strategies.

The team from Decusatio Impact Investments have challenged South Africa to commit to off-take agreements from R250 – a figure which will supply access to sanitary pads for an entire year for young women. This will ensure they are empowered and able to commit to education and professional activities.
